Disclaimer: Please remember that we cannot spot reduce fat, meaning we canโ€™t choose the areas on our body where we lose fat. However to get fat loss results I recommend the following:
1. Being in calorie deficit
2. Cardio/ HIIT workout (I often call these Fat Loss/Burn workouts on my channel)
3. Resistance training and specific muscle targeted workouts. To strengthen and develop specific muscles.

Just how lean can you get and maintain year round? The fitness industry has definitely warped most people’s minds in terms of what body fat percentage is realistically sustainable, with many young lifters aiming for that shredded physique in the 6 to 10% body fat range. In today’s video I explain why taking your cutting phase all the way down to these levels might look good on the surface in terms of muscle definition, six pack abs and overall physique aesthetics, but why it’s just not a good goal for most men. I’ll explain five key downsides of losing fat to such a degree, and what I recommend you do instead so that you can maintain a lean body overall but while still building muscle, gaining strength and performing at your best both in and out of the gym.

10 Min Gentle Yoga Stretch to FILL YOUR CUP

This yoga class is a short version of my members only class “30 Min Gentle Yoga To Fill Your Cup (Intermediate Yoga)”. I created this shortened version so that you can have a taste of what’s in the membership and for those who would like a shortened version rather than the 30 minute one. In the 30 minute version we move through more poses and movements along with longer holds and a 10 minute savasana. this shortened version holds only a few of the poses and stretches to help release tension and stress from the body and mind anytime that you need. Do this in the morning or after work to de-stress and recharge. As always feel free to modify in anyway that you need or skip any poses that don’t feel right today. See you on the mat!

Understanding your lean body mass is important because the amount of lean body mass that you have determines your resting metabolic rate.

Your resting metabolic rate is the number of calories you burn at rest in 24 hours. The more lean body mass you have, the higher your resting metabolic rate. So what is lean body mass? Lean body mass is simply everything thatโ€™s not fat โ€“ so this component includes your bones, organs, muscles, ligaments, tendons and fluids.

Lean mass and fat mass are made up of two entirely different types of cells and tissues โ€“ which is why (even though people say this all the time) muscle canโ€™t โ€œturn into fat.โ€ If you stop exercising your muscles, it might seem as if thatโ€™s happened; without resistance training to maintain your muscle mass, your muscles can become smaller, which can make the fat on the surface more apparent. But just as you canโ€™t change a liver cell into a skin cell, you canโ€™t change a muscle cell into a fat cell.

Every pound of lean body mass that you have burns about 14 calories per day or every kilogram of lean body mass that you have burns about 30 calories per day. When youโ€™re talking about resting metabolic rate itโ€™s more correct to say that itโ€™s based on your lean body mass and not your muscle mass.
